On Friday 23rd July 2010, the GB Women launched their 272 mile bike ride from Tudor Square in Sheffield City Centre with a party atmosphere, waved off by Councillor Roger Davison (Sheffield City Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Sport and Tourism).
As part of the city’s London 2012 Open Weekend celebrations, the team spent 5 hours with the Sheffield public providing come and try it sessions on an outdoor court in the town centre.
It was a great opportunity to introduce the sport to young and old and lots of fun was had by all, enhanced by fun bikes provided by Getcycling.
