Superliga, Spain
The Spanish league is back in action this weekend for Sandell’s team Menorca. They play Jamper Aguere and are looking to continue their winning streak. Beattie’s Las Palmas currently sit at the top of the table, but having played more games than most in the league they have a free weekend!
DEF & Pro A, France
In Pro A, Carter’s Terville play away to Calais on Saturday night who sit a few places above them in the league. Lying in 10th place, Terville are still chasing important points to make the playoffs. After a tough 3-2 loss last weekend the team are looking to finish the first half of the season on a high against a solid but beat-able team.
It’s a top of the table clash in the French DEF league this weekend with Newton’s 2nd placed Quimper Volley taking on first placed Marcq Baroeul. With both teams on an equal number of wins and losses there is everything to play for.
NLA & NLB, Switzerland
After yet another 5 set match on Wednesday, a 15-13 win in the 5th set against Austrian team Linz in the CEV Challenge Cup last 16, the ball keeps rolling for Bertelli’s Volley Koeniz. Its another big match against rivals Sagres NUC. Having taken the away match 3-1 with a great performance earlier in the season, Koeniz will be looking for a repeat performance!
It’s a bit special this weekend as the match will be part of the Mobiliar Games….3 sports (handball, volleyball and unihockey) play key matches in the large Wankdorf Arena in Bern with over 3000 fans expected. Most important for Koeniz though is the 3 points!
Osborne & Goulet’s VC Kanti Schaffhausen play at home to Dudingen on Saturday.
Thom has her first match for Biel this weekend and it’s a tough one. Thom comments: “VFM are currently first in the league so we know this will be a tough match for us. My transfer has now gone through so i am looking forward to playing my first game with the team.”
Bundesliga, Germany
It’s a must win for Alemannia Aachen’s Wicks & Michel as they travel to Stuttgart for a game on Saturday night. Both teams have had a disappointing first half to the season and this weekend will see them fighting for a place in the pay offs. Wicks comments….”we had a good game against them in the first half, winning 3-1 at home and our last few performances have been positive so we are looking to take the win again. We know it will be tough and we will all have to be on our game to achieve it.”
Bragg’s Aurubis Hamburg are away to Wiesbaden on Saturday night.
DELA League, Holland
Taylor & Morgan will be looking to build from their great win last weekend. TFM/DOK are away to 4th place Peelpush on Saturday.
Finland
After having two wins in Estonia and a tough 5 set loss last week, Pieksamaki Volley is looking to keeping up a more steady performance for the last 8 matches of the season. This Saturday Pieksamaki Volley takes on OrPo, who just finished 2nd in the Finnish Cup. They are a good all around team with strong foreigners. Stacey comments…….“I’m looking for another game where we can play our best and be happy with the result, whether we win or lose. We need the points for playoffs but right now I’d rather we play more consistently and if we get a win I’d love that too! This is our last match for 2 weeks so I’m ready to make the most out of this game.”
Eres Divisie, Belgium
Palmer’s Gea Happel Amigos Zoersel are away on Saturday to Barbar d´ X-elles. Earlier in the season the Amigos lost out 3-1 but their recent form is good so they are looking to even the scores.
